On the way home from work on July 14th, 2010 at 8pm mom called me to come out and help her catch a stray. I loaded my car with treats and a leash and drove down to look for the dog. I ran after the dog (crossing a street with light traffic at the time) frustrated because he would not let me get close (or come close to me). Luckily a man was walking his dog (I had seen the stray walking with other dogs before he crossed the street) and I asked him to bring his dog near to the stray (in the middle of the street). The man did and Pachy was finally lured! I picked him up immediately and as a nice surprise he did not struggle, growl, or bite. Having a puppy (Malu) at home at the time without all of her shots I was very concerned with finding Pachy's owners. I took him to Petsmart to get scanned, but he did not have a chip. That same night I put up signs in the neighborhood and on petfinder.com. He spent the night in the garage isolated from the rest. The next morning I went to The Corona and Norco pounds to list him as found. I was so worried about the puppy that by 2pm I had decided that I had to surrender him to the Norco pound to make sure the puppy was safe. I went, filled out the paper work, and then they took him back. I nearly began crying and requested to have him back. When I came back to the neighborhood I drove up and down the streets stopping people outside and asking them if they had ever seen the dog. One woman told me she had seen him wandering around the night before around 4-6pm in the CVS parking lot. Mind you, he crossed an extremely heavily traveled large avenue and made it across alive. I decided to take my odds to the neighborhood across the street. Since there is a grooming place in the CVS complex I decided to go there first and ask. The groomer recognized him and identified him as a usual wanderer and he directed me to his home (right behind the CVS complex). I spoke with the family. The dog did not have a license so I told them that I would surrender the dog to the Norco pound and they would have to go in pay a fine and for a license. I told them the fine would be about $40 and that a license for an intact dog is $100 a year. The father said he was not willing to pay $40 for the dog. At that point I asked if he would surrender the dog over to me so that I may find him a home. He agreed, signed a paper and gave me the dogs vaccine records. A this point I was calm because I had his vaccination record, the puppy was safe! I took him home, gave him a bath, sent out emails, posted on FB, and he slept with everyone that night.

The next morning I scheduled a neutering and he was fixed ASAP.
An SCCO alumni and staff doctor at one of the SCCO facilities contacted me. The doctor, his family and I wrote back and forth. We finally set up a meeting for July 31st. The family came along with their dog (Gnala) (another rescue) and they all met. Pachy and the family made a connection right away and it only took a minute or two for Gnala and Pachy to hit it off. That night Pachy was adopted and taken to his new, perfect, and loving home. Since then the family has kindly kept me updated and I even received some pictures showing me that he now has the life he deserves.
